Most people know today’s ocean mama, Tristan Prettyman for her music, beauty, and authenticity.

I personally remember her music from the surf flick Shelter over a decade ago. As a singer-songwriter out of San Diego California, Tristan was invited to join Jason Mraz, her former fiancé, on his Natural tour back in 2006. Tristan has received much notoriety for her music and albums, like her song Hello’s No. 2 position on the iTunes Digital Albums chart and headlining tours across the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

But what people may not know about this mama is that she has done a lot of inner work to get her to where she is today and is very invested in health and wellness. She has used life hardships, one that was very public, to propel her to her highs.

Tristan used her public split to fuel her creative fire and found that she felt compelled to share the emotions boiling up during that time. It was through her authentic lyrics and speaking her truth that she continued to write music.

Even though there was external and self imposed pressure on her to continue producing albums, Prettyman took a break to travel the world and rediscover herself, had surgery to remove polyps on her vocal cords, got married, had her son Kylo and eventually questioned whether she even wanted to be a musician at all.

After a whirlwind marriage and divorce to Kylo’s dad, Tristan was faced with time to self reflect and reassess her creativity. As a mom Tristan just wanted to be home with her baby and found herself not chomping at the bit to get in the limelight again.

Today she is going to share about motherhood, how it has changed her, how creativity plays a role in her current life as a mom, how her and her ex have amicably split and continue to co-parent together to the best of their abilities.
